Gate Automation

Gate Automation
In evaluating the proper gate automation for your project, we consider the following:

- Environmental conditions, location, ground water, elevation, flooding, etc.
- Aesthetics. How much gate operator do you care to see?
- Reliability & maintenance.
- Cost

FAAC brand hydraulic gate operators, specifically models 750 and model 400 offer the best balance of aesthetics, reliability and continuous duty for the cost.

Other manufacturers such as Byan Systems and Stanley Corp. both produce hydraulic gate operators that do not meet the above criteria, because:

- Entry level and “residential” model units all use 1/2” diameter piston rod, and a plastic piston, which is forced under hydraulic pressure to open & close your gates, as well as hold position against storm force winds. These models also use plastic check valves & lock valves. Plastic and nylon parts are weakened by prolonged exposure to hydraulic oil, are easily damaged internally by the inevitable accidental closing or contact.

- FAAC model 750 & 400 hydraulic systems use stainless ball bearing check valve and lock valve. The 400 uses a 3/4” diameter piston rod, stainless steel piston, and a greater volume hydraulic pump. These units are more expensive then the Byan or Stanley, but they will outperform them as well. These are the gate operators that I use the most.
