Installation Options

AutoGate Systems, Inc. uses gate operators manufactured by FAAC of  Italy, manufacturers of hydraulic swing gate operators in two configurations:

FAAC Model 400 Operator     Model 400: Linear piston/cylinder with motor and pump all in one unit mounts between the post and backside of the gates.  These units are installed near the bottom of the gates and the operator is visible.

Model 750: Rotary actuator installed below finished grade, functions as a power hinge, with hydraulic pumps installed in a remotely located control cabinet.  All copper tube hydraulic plumbing and control wiring below ground, provides for a clean installation, not visible from either side of the gates.

Regardless of choice, the following peripheral controls shall be installed with the system:

  • Remotely located Gate Operator Control Panel 36″ x 20″ steel lockable weathertight enclosure house a 220 volt disconnect, a 110 volt duplex receptacle, all required circuit boards, hydraulic pumps (750 system) Gate operator micro-processor control panel, surge protection, cycle counter, hold-open relay, and interfaces for access controls and alarm systems outputs.  This CP is mounted on CCA backframe, installed up to 30 feet from entry gates.
  • FAAC Model 750 In-Ground Hydraulic Control PanelMagnetic vehicle detector with two underground loops at the gate site, to prevent gates from accidentally closing on vehicles.  An additional Free-Exit detector shall open the gates automatically for exiting vehicles.  These detectors can also provide Free-Entry, send an audible signal into house to announce approaching vehicles and can turn on lights, etc.
  • Photo switch between gateposts to prevents accidental closing on people or animals.
  • Pedestrian exit button to open gates while on foot
  • Radio controls for owner’s cars, five transmitters included, will open gates from up to 75 feet away.   May be interfaced with garage door radio controls.  Multi-button/function transmitters are available.
  • Output from house alarm to open and hold-open gates while house alarm is active.  Gates would close when alarm system keypad is re-set, or after the siren shuts off.
  • Telephone access control links the entry gates with the house telephones, and provides a voice path between two.  This device provides many featuresMay 26, 2009 015 and resolves issues of vendor or service access, visitor access, deliveries, etc.  Usually wired in series with the house telephone line, a separate phone line is not required.  Individual access codes can be provided to anyone requiring access to the property.  A visitor shall press one key to call the residence, and the gates can then be opened by residence telephones by pressing a designated key.  Telephone access provides a level of security above Free-entry sensors.

In the event that your project does not require all the features outlined above, the price can be adjusted accordingly.  Electrical power and telephone cable from the house to the gate site is not included. this is to be done by your electrician.  Electrical feed shall be 220volt, 15 amp circuit, with neutral and ground.  Wire gauge to be determined according to the length of run.  Telco cable shall be minimum 6-pair, 22 awg.  Twisted, shielded cable.  These shall run from the Service Panel and telephone demarcation at the house, to the Control Panel near the gate site.  No underground splices, no exceptions.  It is preferred to run two 1 1/4″ conduits for this purpose, with the power in one, and teleco cable in the other.  If video is considered, even in the future, an RG-6 coaxial cable should run out with the telco cable.  Any in-the-house wiring for these options are not included in the price of the gate automation.  All control wiring at the gate site is included.  Workmanship and materials guaranteed free from failure for one year.

  • Optional CCD Video Camera Option for telephone entry systems keypad, to enable the resident to view the visitor from a designated monitor in the house.  The system requires a coaxial cable between the monitor and the keypad, installed with the primary cable runs from the house.
  • Optional 24-hour 7-day multifunction time clock.  An automatic time clock can be used to control free-entry or even open the gates during a specific time of day and days of the week,  and close gates, at night, for example.  This device can also control vendor entry codes to specific days, or specific times of day, for example: Monday through Friday, 0700 to 1800.
  • Optional Residence Control Panel is installed in a convenient locations in the house, such as the kitchen, provides a Sound-Alert, Status indicator lamp, Open-hold-open Switch, Free- entry independent of house telephone system.  Additional RCP’s can be wired in series and located anywhere in house.

Things to consider: We have been directly and exclusively involved in teh design and installation of automatic entry systems since 1984.  Here at AutoGate Systems, we use the best components and the best methods of construction and installation available.  A lot of time is spent evaluting new products that come to market.  We maintain excellent relationships with the manufacturers whose components we choose to represent.  We maintain a substantial inventory of replacement party so that when service is needed, down-time is minimal.

AutoGate Systems, Inc. has never failed to complete a project, has always met the budget established, and always considered the customer’s present and future needs concerning the project.

Keep in mind: the quoted costs are the whole costs.  Our company installs all underground controls, wiring, any on-site welding, etc.  Often, comparative estimates include phrases such as “all conduit runs by others, concrete work by others, any trenching or excavating by others”, etc.  Inessence, you can add $2,300 to $3,000 and more, to these estimates for the electrician or mason, steel fabrication, or whoever else is going to do this work.  We have chosen to perform all required installation task and this eliminate mistakes made by different subcontractors working without sufficient knowledge of the project as a whole.

Delievery time: The time involved can vary by project; some are far more custom than others, some requiring a little more invention.  Each job is evaluated and time estimated accordingly.
